Gentle Yoga For Everyone -- Mary Riley and Rick Rabalais

A yoga practice for those new to yoga and experienced yoga practitioners, as the class is adapted to your abilities. Breathing, postures, rest and relaxation are incorporated. Husband and wife team, Rick and Mary bring a sense of calm and peace with their instruction.

Mary is a yoga practitioner since 1996, and began teaching in 2005.  Her training has been Iyengar alignment focused and she is certified with Sonia Sumar, an instructor who travels the world teaching yoga teachers. Mary continues the study of yoga at the Amrit Yoga Institute and regularly attends workshops and classes.  

 

Rick's yoga journey began as a student attending classes in Tai Chi, Chi Gong, Massage, Meditation and Yoga.  He studies the Yoga Philosophy and the lives of Masters Paramahansa Yogananda, Swami Kripalu, Founder of Kripalu Yoga and Yogi Amrit Desai.  Rick participates in on-going learning at the Amrit Yoga Institute and other yoga venues.

Tatiana Thompson earned her Masters of Physical Therapy from Emory University in 1986, and worked as a physical therapist for over 30 years before earning her health coaching certification in May 2017. Tatiana has always had a passion for healing others and has worked in a variety of settings ranging from in-home care to private practice. Her most recent work in an acute care hospital setting allowed her to treat those living in pain and discomfort. However, she noticed that many suffered from the same health problems, such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes, both of which are preventable and even reversible. As she saw the cycle repeat itself over the years, she realized she wanted to do more than just treat people after they had been hospitalized. She needed to reach people before they got sick and teach them how simple vitality can be if they develop healthy habits. As a health coach, she can do just that. Tatiana now combines her physical therapy experience with her passion for helping women find, improve and keep their health. Her coaching method focuses on helping clients create sustainable habits

Miryam Gomez became certified to teach yoga in 2006 through Sri Yogi Hari of the Sivananda Lineage and creator of Sampoorna Yoga (Yoga of Fullness), in Miramar, FL. She completed the 200 hour and 300 hour Residential Teacher Training programs at the Sampoorna Yoga Ashram in Miramar, FL. In addition to Sivananda/Sampoorna Yoga she also teaches Chair yoga.

Cathy Grippi discovered Laughter Yoga in early 2016.  The effects were so profound, Cathy became a Laughter Yoga Leader in the spring of 2016, and became a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader Teacher in the summer of 2019, with Laughter Yoga International University.  In the fall of 2019, Cathy became a Certified Laughter Leader with the World Laughter Tour.   Cathy is am member of AATH, the Association of Applied and Therapeutic Humor, where she is participating in their Humor Academy, which provides insight and more on how we can use humor in our daily lives - in productive ways.  

 

In the winter of 2017, Cathy began Laughter in the Park, which continues each Saturday morning on Venice Island.  Cathy has brought Laughter Yoga to assisted living and memory care facilities, mentally challenged young adult programs as well as summer camps for the general population.  The opportunity to bring this unique exercise modality to Blue Lotus Meditation and Holistic Center provides the public with opportunities to experience this practice in a different way that is done outside in a park setting.
