Meant to play in group, African drumming is about inspiring community and sharing. This class will delve into that philosophy, teaching you different traditional rhythms, and accompaniments. No experience necessary. All walks and all ages welcome. The Djembe is an amazing tool for healing and mindfulness. Great joy can be achieved through perseverance and patience with ourselves. With over 20 years of percussion experience, Michael Katala has been a part of our community's drum circles for almost 14 years. Since then he has expanded his knowledge to include, not only playing other instruments such as Native American flute, African harp, and frame drums, but also learning to craft his own instruments, connecting to the root of the instrument. Michael is also an artist, creating wire wrapped crystal jewelry, sculpture, and wood crafts with intentional purposes.
